Veteran’s Village (Las Vegas, NV) is holistic and comprehensive temporary housing for United States Veterans that was founded by Arnold Stalk, PhD. Veteran’s Village provides many services to help Veterans in transition get back on their feet, such as education and degree programs, nutritional programs, exercise training, medical services and mental health counseling. Veteran’s Village also provides a much need sense of community and camaraderie for the residents. NVASLA member and Landscape Architect, Anna Peltier, from Aria Landscape Architecture, is providing pro-bono design services to create outdoor gathering and gardening areas for the Veterans. Shaded seating, small event spaces, and outdoor cooking areas will provide the Veterans with community spaces where they can share stories and cultivate sense of community and family. Also included are raised garden beds and fruit trees that the Veterans can use to learn agricultural skills and help provided fresh produce and herbs for their food pantry.
